Supplying Power to Critical Equipment in Hazardous Areas

Extronics Ltd
December 30, 2009

Extronics, supplier and manufacturer of intrinsically safe and explosion-proof electrical and electronic equipment, has launched the iUPS100 Zone 1 uninterruptible power supply system. Extronics iUPS100 is certified for use in Zone 1 hazardous areas and provides 230VAC back up power for up to 60 minutes, at 1000W full load. Critical equipment such as Servers, Analysers and Automation Systems are protected in the event of a blackout or brownout.

Designed to be located on the floor or wall mounted the iUPS100 is comprised of an aluminium alloy Ex’d’ charger/inverter enclosure complete with a glass window allowing the user visuals to the various alarms and status LED’s. Surface mounted switches provide mains input / output isolation as required. A GRP or stainless steel close coupled Ex’e’ terminal enclosure via cable bushings eliminates the need to open the Ex’d’ enclosure with respect to cable termination.

A stainless steel Ex’e’ battery enclosure protects the lead acid batteries and is suitable for installation in potentially explosive, harsh, wet and corrosive environments.
