Spray cans: Risky for starting fires
March 1, 2010
A spray that is flammable should be put in a place where the temperature is appropriate. Cooking spray should be kept in a storage area away from heat when not in use. Cooking spray, butter or oil in a can, is very flammable. Don't spray directly into the pan when it is on the stove. If the spray touches the burner, a big explosion may result and anyone standing at the stove could suffer a second-degree or a third-degree burn.
The same is true of spray cleaners and hair spray.
