Three injured in oil-storage explosion in Midway, TX

October 3, 2012

Three men sustained third-degree burns after an oil storage tank exploded in Midway near Madisonville. The oil well, on the Ferguson Prison property caught fire and four personnel with Navidad Resources who were working on the well were injured when it ignited suddenly. Three sustained third-degree burns over 50 percent of their bodies, and were each taken by three separate helicopters to a hospital in Galveston.

One of the personnel jumped from the 25-foot well after he caught on fire and it is likely that both of his ankles are severely damaged, if not broken.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
